Grinnell Makers February: Sketch up and Ardnuinos

The second meeting of the Grinnell Makers will take place on Saturday, Feb. 11th at the Drake Community Library from 2-4pm. Individuals of all ages who are interested in exploring various skills and technologies relating to creating, building, and designing  are encouraged to attend.  The first meeting in January attracted around 15 individuals who shared ideas and enthusiasm and the group looks to build on that.

Every meeting includes an open invitation to show and share about projects you are working on or looking to find a way to work on, i.e. I’d like help learning this skill. For the February meeting leaders Rich Dana and Craig Shore will offer resources to help explore the free, online “Sketch Up” design tool and Arduino microcontrollers.  Sketch up is a 3D modeling computer program for a wide range of drawing applications such as architecture, interior design, landscaping, mechanical engineering, etc.   Arduino is an open-source platform used for building electronics projects, quite popular for people just starting out with electronics.
