Preserving the History of the People and Places of Poweshiek County
PHPP is a collaboration between Drake Community Library and the Grinnell College libraries which seeks to build a searchable digital archive of local area history. Our goal is to provide the tools and resources to allow anyone to add to the historical record of Poweshiek County. PHPP includes materials contributed by individuals and items from the Drake Community Library, Grinnell College and area historical museums.
If you have items to contribute, you can contact the library to arrange to have them scanned. Alternatively, items can also be submitted in digital form by individuals (higher resolution images preferred). The project is also collecting oral histories which are conducted by volunteers. For information on how to contribute items or get involved in the project see below.

The PHPP Facebook page is a great way to reminisce or learn about local history. With over 2500 followers from around the country, there are lots of great memories shared related to the photos regularly posted to the site.
Digital Grinnell is the permanent digital repository for items in the PHPP collection. Maintained by Grinnell College, once items are entered into the database they accessible via keyword and subject based searching for viewing and downloading from anywhere. Items are digitally protected and preserved using the highest standards. Digital Grinnell is an incredible resource that contains a wide variety of materials from the college collections as well.
