Poweshiek History Preservation Project

A digital history of the people and places of Poweshiek County.

Poweshiek History Preservation Project (PHPP) is a collaboration between the Drake Community Library and the Grinnell College Libraries. Since 2013, PHPP has been working to build a searchable digital archive of local area history. Our goal is to provide the tools to allow anyone to contribute to the historical record of Grinnell and Poweshiek county. This project includes materials contributed by individuals as well as items from Drake Community Library, Grinnell College, and area historical museums. We are also interested in collecting oral histories.  If you have items to contribute, you can learn how to do so below.

PHPP brings together staff of both the Drake Community Library and the Grinnell College Libraries.

This project was started as part of the ILEAD Iowa program administered by Iowa Library Services. Iowa Library Services is partnering with the state libraries in Illinois, Colorado, Ohio, and Utah to implement ILEAD USA through a Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
